Privacy Policy
Your privacy matters to us. This page explains, in plain English, what information ClipLookup collects when you use our site, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. No legalese, no hidden tricks.
1. Who we are
ClipLookup is a free online lookup tool that helps you find information behind public short video URLs. When we say "ClipLookup", "we", "us", or "our" in this policy, we mean the team that operates cliplookup.com. When we say "you", we mean anyone who visits or uses the site.
This Privacy Policy applies to everything we do on cliplookup.com and any feature, page, or tool we offer there. It does not apply to third party sites or apps we link out to — those have their own rules, and we'd recommend reading them.
2. Information we collect
We try hard to collect as little as possible. Here's what actually shows up:
Information you give us directly
If you email us, send a DMCA notice, or fill in a contact form, we'll have your email address, your message, and anything you choose to share, like a name or a URL. We only use this to reply to you and to keep a record of the conversation.
URLs you paste into the tool
When you paste a public video URL into ClipLookup, that URL is processed so we can return a result. We don't tie those lookups to your real identity, and we don't build a personal browsing profile from them.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our servers and our partners automatically log a few technical details every time someone visits. This usually includes:
- Your IP address (often shortened or anonymized before storage).
- Browser type, language, and approximate device details.
- The page you came from and the pages you visit on our site.
- Timestamps and the rough region you're visiting from (country or city level).
We use this kind of information to keep the site running, spot abuse, and understand how people use ClipLookup so we can make it better.
3. How we use your information
We only use the information we collect for a small, sensible list of things:
- To run the service. So your lookups work and pages load properly.
- To keep things safe. Detecting abuse, scraping, fraud, and other shady behavior.
- To improve ClipLookup. Understanding which features are useful and which need work.
- To support you. Replying to your emails, DMCA notices, and questions.
- To show relevant ads. Through approved partners like Google AdSense (more on that below).
- To comply with the law. When we genuinely have to respond to a lawful request.
We don't use your data for any other purpose without telling you and, where required, asking first.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device so it can remember things between visits. ClipLookup uses a few different kinds:
- Essential cookies. Needed for basic functions like remembering your language or keeping the site secure. Without these the site simply won't work.
- Preference cookies. Remember small choices like your selected language so you don't have to set them every time.
- Analytics cookies. Help us understand, in aggregate, how visitors use the site (popular pages, average time on site, broken links).
- Advertising cookies. Used by Google and other ad partners to show ads that are more relevant to you and to limit how often you see the same ad.
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking essential cookies may break parts of the site, but blocking analytics or advertising cookies is fine.
5. Advertising and Google AdSense
ClipLookup is free to use, and ads help us keep it that way. We work with Google AdSense and may work with other approved ad partners over time.
Here's what you should know:
- Google, as a third party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on our site.
- Google's use of advertising cookies allows it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to ClipLookup and other sites on the Internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can also opt out of a wide range of third party ad networks through aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu.
Even if you opt out of personalized ads, you'll still see ads — they just won't be tailored to your interests.
6. Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand traffic patterns — things like which countries our visitors come from, which pages are most useful, and where people get stuck. Google Analytics uses cookies and may collect things like your IP address (truncated where supported), device type, and the pages you view.
We don't use Google Analytics to identify you personally, and we've enabled IP anonymization where available. You can install the official Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on if you'd rather not be counted at all.
7. When we share information
We don't sell your personal data. We share it only in these specific situations:
- Service providers. Trusted vendors that host our site, deliver our emails, serve ads, or run analytics. They can only use your data to help us, not for their own marketing.
- Legal reasons. When a valid law, court order, or government request really requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the public.
- Business changes. If ClipLookup is ever involved in a merger, sale, or restructure, your data may be transferred under the same protections this policy provides.
- With your consent. Anything else only happens if you say yes.
8. How long we keep data
We keep information only for as long as we genuinely need it:
- Server and security logs are typically kept for a short period (often 30 to 90 days) and then deleted or anonymized.
- Support and DMCA emails are kept for as long as needed to manage the issue and meet our legal obligations.
- Aggregated analytics data, which cannot identify you, may be kept for longer to study trends.
When data is no longer needed, we delete it or strip out anything that could identify you.
9. How we protect your data
We use industry standard safeguards to keep your information safe, including:
- HTTPS encryption across the entire site.
- Access controls so only the people who need data can reach it.
- Reputable hosting and ad partners with their own strong security programs.
- Routine reviews of what we collect, so we can keep it minimal.
No website can promise perfect security, but we take this seriously and act quickly if anything ever goes wrong.
10. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws like the EU GDPR, the UK GDPR, the California CCPA / CPRA, and similar rules elsewhere. These can include the right to:
- Know what personal information we hold about you.
- Ask for a copy of it.
- Correct anything that's wrong.
- Ask us to delete it.
- Object to or restrict certain uses, including personalized advertising.
- Withdraw consent you previously gave.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
We honor these rights regardless of where you live. To exercise any of them, email support@cliplookup.com with the subject line "Privacy Request" and tell us what you'd like us to do. We'll respond within 30 days, and usually a lot sooner.
11. Children's privacy
ClipLookup isn't designed for children under 13 (or under 16 in some regions), and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you're a parent or guardian and you believe your child has shared information with us, please email support@cliplookup.com and we'll delete it.
12. International data transfers
ClipLookup is available worldwide, and our hosting, analytics, and ad partners may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. When we move personal data across borders, we rely on appropriate safeguards — like Standard Contractual Clauses — to keep it protected to the same standards.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when we add new features, change a partner, or respond to new laws. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of the page. If the changes are significant, we'll do our best to highlight them more clearly on the site.
Your continued use of ClipLookup after a change means you accept the updated policy.

15. Privacy FAQ
Quick answers to the questions people ask us most often about how ClipLookup handles privacy, cookies, and ads.
Does ClipLookup sell my personal data?
No. We don't sell personal information to data brokers or anyone else. We share limited data only with the trusted partners that help us run the site, serve ads, and study traffic — and they can't reuse it for their own marketing.
Do I need to create an account to use ClipLookup?
No account is required. You can use the tool without signing up, logging in, or giving us your name, email, or payment details.
How does ClipLookup use Google AdSense?
We use Google AdSense to display ads that keep ClipLookup free. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our site and other sites. You can manage or opt out of personalized ads in Google Ads Settings.
How can I opt out of personalized advertising?
You can opt out of Google's personalized ads via Google Ads Settings, or opt out of many third-party ad networks through aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu. You'll still see ads — they just won't be personalized.
Is ClipLookup GDPR and CCPA compliant?
Yes. We honor GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA/CPRA rights for every visitor regardless of location. That includes the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of your personal data. Email support@cliplookup.com with the subject line "Privacy Request" to use any of these rights.
How can I delete data ClipLookup has about me?
Email support@cliplookup.com and ask us to delete it. We'll confirm and respond within 30 days, usually much sooner.
